With our comprehensive Online Skills Assessment, we pinpoint your child's academic strengths and weaknesses – her Skills Gaps. Guided by the results of the Skills Assessment and your insight into your child's learning style and needs, our highly trained staff will create a personalized “map” to success for your child in math or reading. For example, a student whose Skills Assessment highlights struggles with basic division will receive a learning plan designed to ensure mastery of this basic math concept (and the ones that precede it). The student will then be able to advance to more complex concepts that require knowledge of division. The result - a program personalized for your child, that will start filling in her specific skill gaps in math and reading right away! Programs That Fit Your Busy Life The exact length of your child's program depends on the specific academic needs uncovered in the Skills Assessment. Sylvan Online tutoring programs typically range from 40 to 120 hours of instruction. When you enroll your child, you will be able to choose a weekly instructional schedule that best meets your family's needs. Each online session lasts one hour. We recommend 2 to 4 hours of instruction per week to accelerate progress. Our goal is to ensure that every Sylvan Online student functions at or above grade level as quickly as possible. Sylvan Online's math and reading programs are currently offered at convenient after-school hours and on Saturdays during the school year.
