eSylvan (now Sylvan Online) is the first online supplemental education provider to be recognized by CITA
Widely recognized by educators and accepted as the leader in advancing quality school improvement, CITA holds the only set of nationally recognized accreditation standards for supplemental education providers.
To receive CITA accreditation, eSylvan was required to meet 12 established standards of supplemental education, including a clear educational mission, rigorously defined academic curricula, and professionally sanctioned methods and materials. eSylvan now holds a distinction that until now belonged only to prominent "bricks and mortar" supplemental education providers.
eSylvan is the first online supplemental education provider to be recognized by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools
The Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools (MSCES) evaluates and grants regional accreditation to public and private schools, as well as supplemental education providers, that serve an elementary-age population in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and certain regions overseas.
To receive MSCES accreditation, eSylvan was first required to achieve accredited status from CITA, which eSylvan received in July 2002.
Upon CITA accreditation, eSylvan completed a three-year strategic plan for providing continuous educational improvements to the program. Completion and acceptance of this plan was the final step toward MCSES accreditation.
Awarded the National Parenting Publications Award
eSylvan's Online Home Tutoring Solution was selected as an Honors National Parenting Publications Award (NAPPA) winner for Software for Elementary-aged Children. Each year, NAPPA recognizes the best children's products on the market. Entries are judged by a panel of educators, editors and authors who are committed to helping parents select quality products for their families. eSylvan was selected from among 578 entries for the 2002 children's resources awards. In addition to its high value as an educational product, this award also judged eSylvan's online tutoring product as simple to install, easy to operate, and sold at a fair price.
Selected as Best Education Technology Finalist in 18th Annual SIIA Codie Awards
eSylvan's online tutoring service was selected as a finalist in the Software & Information Industry Association's 18th Annual Codie Awards in the category of Best Education Technology Solution for the Home/Consumer.
The Codie Awards recognize outstanding achievement in the software and information technology industry. Nearly 700 entrants competed for top honors in 40 award categories. eSylvan was selected as a finalist by a panel of judges comprised of software trade journalists, mainstream technology writers and experts in education.
Named "Top 100" Leader in Education by Eduventures
eSylvan, a leading was selected by Eduventures, the leading independent research firm exclusively focused on learning markets, as one of the top 100 businesses shaping the educational product and services landscape.
Profiled in the second edition of The Eduventures 100: Leading Businesses Transforming the Education Economy, eSylvan was selected from more than 1,500 companies and ranks among those expected to drive industry success through 2003. Companies were selected both for their ability to execute during turbulent times, as well as for their efforts to introduce innovative solutions to their customers.
